From Online-Only Startup to 350,000+ Pet Owners Served Remotely

A veterinary telemedicine service launched with no clinics and no waiting rooms, just pet owners and vets connecting remotely from day one. Growth outpaced the tooling: calls, emails, and texts piling up across channels with no shared record between them. We built the platform that let it scale past 350,000 pet owners, and it's still running today.

The Challenge

Sound familiar? Calls, emails, and texts piling up across separate channels, no shared record, and growth that keeps outrunning your tooling. PawSquad, the UK veterinary telemedicine service of IVC Evidensia, started as a fully remote consultation service, no clinics, no physical waiting rooms, ever. But growth outpaced the tooling behind it fast.

Under GDPR, that fragmentation isn't just messy, it's a compliance risk. Every channel meant separate data entry, lost history, and no single, auditable record of a consultation.

Our Solution

One channel, not four. We designed and built a telemedicine and digital health record platform for PawSquad, part of IVC Evidensia, one of the largest veterinary groups in Europe. Pet owners reach a vet by video, voice, chat, or SMS, and every one of those channels routes into one structured record instead of staying disconnected, exactly what GDPR requires, and exactly what turns a compliance headache into a clean audit trail.

The same platform was later licensed as a separate white-label product, VetCloud, proof this isn't a one-client fix, it's a system built to be reused.

The Result

350,000+ pet owners. 102+ vet experts. Running 24/7/365 since 2018. AI drafts the consultation report immediately after every session, cutting the vet's paperwork time by more than half, time your own clinical staff could get back too.

Onboarding a new clinic network now takes days, not months. If fragmented channels are holding back your own growth the way they once did PawSquad's, this is the platform built to fix exactly that, and we're the team that already built it.

We have worked with SmartNet on several projects in the animal healthcare space, including practice management systems and telemedicine solutions for veterinary clinics. They are much more than an outsourced development team. SmartNet brings strong expertise in business logic, technical architecture, planning, and end-to-end project delivery. They understand complex digital products and support both our team and our end clients professionally throughout the process. Together, we developed a veterinary telemedicine portal used by over 350,000 pet owners in the UK. I would highly recommend SmartNet to anyone looking for a reliable and strategic technology partner.
